Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how BandUp ("BandUp", "we", "us"), an app published by Approtic, handles information when you use our iOS application. We aim to collect as little personal data as possible.

1. Information we collect

• Account information. If you choose Sign in with Apple, we receive a unique Apple user identifier and, only if you agree to share it, your name. We never receive your Apple password. If you choose Continue as guest, no account information is collected.
• Study data. Your progress (cards reviewed, streaks, daily goals, per-topic mastery) is stored locally on your device. If cross-device sync is enabled, this progress may also be stored on our infrastructure (Cloudflare) so it follows you across devices.
• Writing you submit for feedback. When you use AI band feedback, the essay text and task prompt you submit are sent to our scoring service to generate your feedback (see "Third-party services"). We use this content only to return your score and suggestions.
• Text you ask to hear. When you tap to hear a word or phrase aloud, that text is sent to a text-to-speech service to generate audio.
• Purchases. Subscriptions are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive or store your payment-card details; we only receive enough information to unlock Premium features.

We do not sell your data, show third-party advertising, or use third-party advertising/tracking SDKs.

2. How we use information

• To provide the core features — vocabulary practice, AI essay feedback, speaking practice and progress tracking.
• To sync your progress across your devices (if you enable sync).
• To manage your subscription and provide customer support.
• To maintain the security and reliability of the service.

3. Third-party services

To deliver certain features we rely on the following providers, who process the relevant data on our behalf or under their own terms:

• Apple — Sign in with Apple and App Store payments. See Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Google (Gemini API, via a Cloudflare Worker) — generates your IELTS band feedback from the essay text you submit. See Google's Privacy Policy.
• Microsoft — converts text to spoken audio for pronunciation. See Microsoft's Privacy Statement.
• Cloudflare — hosts our backend services and (if enabled) stores synced progress. See Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.

4. Data retention

Study progress is kept while your account is active or until you delete it from the app. Essay and prompt text is processed to produce your feedback and is not retained by us for any other purpose, nor used by us to train models. You can clear local data at any time by signing out or removing the app.

5. Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data, or to object to certain processing. Signing out removes your account association on your device; to request deletion of any server-side data, contact us at support@approtic.in.

6. Children

BandUp is intended for users aged 13 and older. It is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.

7. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) for all data in transit. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, however, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, through in-app notice.
